Fabio Capello is planning to give Robert Green or Ben Foster the chance to establish themselves as his first-choice goalkeeper when the England squad congregates next week before matches against Slovenia and Croatia.
Capello will name David James in his squad if the Portsmouth goalkeeper comes through Sunday’s Barclays Premier League match with Manchester City, his former club, but is concerned he lacks the fitness to start the World Cup qualifier against Croatia on September 9 at Wembley given his recent injury problems.
